Hi all- my wife is pregnant and I recently came across the following release from Pfizer. Would like some analytically minded folks on here to help me interpret, particularly table 6 (page 12). Am I reading this right that 28 out of 274 pregnancy cases had adverse reactions? I assume I’m misinterpreting. Thanks for the help. https://phmpt.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/5.3.6-postmarketing-experience.pdf

I suggest if you can cut down on sugar, make sure you’re always hydrated, drinking lots of water. Try to eat a lot of veggies and fruits. They provide a lot of nutrients that are vital to your health and are low in fat and calories (depending on how you cook/eat them), and fruits also have natural sugars. They have so many benefits that help with overall health prevention, including BP, heart health, help digestion, etc etc., not to mention the essential minerals we need through our diet. Try incorporating as many fruits and veggies as you can into your diet and try different recipes with them. There’s so much more out there, but as long as you’re willing to learn and try other things until you figure out what works best for you.
Download MyFitness app to determine your calorie count to meet your weight loss target. 80% of weight loss driver is good. Eat high protein food eg beef, chicken, fish, high fiber - vegetables (include them in all meals) etc. You can also consult a dietitian. Keep stress low and sleep sufficiently. I know it’s difficult for lawyers specially in big law. Good luck
+ complex carbs like quinoa. Also remember that weight loss takes time to see results. The most important part is consistency
If you’re making it to the gym and gaining this much weight you’re likely a combination of:
A) eating or drinking way too many calories
B) too sedentary outside of the gym
Alcohol, juice, soda, sweets are the easy ones. I probably drink too much alcohol but I definitely adjust in other areas accordingly.
I have a similar issue and actually just went to see a doctor yesterday. Here are some tips that he gave me: 1) eat breakfast within the first hour that you wake up. Otherwise, your body will go into fat storing mode. 2) if you want fruit, only eat them for breakfast (can’t have them otherwise). 3) as far as vegetables, you can’t eat corn, artichokes, or carrots. 4). Other than breakfast, only have a total of 30 carbs a day. 5) check labels to make sure that nothing you eat has high fructose corn syrup (apparently it’s randomly in some foods that you may not think are bad)
I track my macronutrients, started cutting down my carb intake, to reduce weight I stay within 50g carbs per day, most of my friends agree if you want to lose weight fast it’s best to avoid carbs (basically go keto), and track calories. I’ve also increased my daily steps during the day to at least 10k. Good luck to you!
Hi! Lost (and kept off) 50 lbs since starting big law. It can be done!!
1) If you’re already working out and have a fitness program, agreed that you probably need to be focusing on nutrition. Tracking your meals on MyFitnessPal can be hugely helpful. Can help you see where your calories are coming from and what easy changes you can make right off the bat (sugary drinks, snacks, alcohol, portion control). For me it was cutting sugar/dairy from my coffee and limiting snacks.
2) If you feel like you need to jumpstart your nutrition, I recommend a nutritionist / dietician — StrongerU (https://strongeru.com/) has been an amazing virtual program for me. I tried Noom/WW but felt like they were both advocating unrealistic crash diets (<1200 calories, no carbs).
3) if you’re back in the office, access to snacks and takeout are your enemies. An important change for me was to revamp my eating out to be about simple grilled proteins and veggies.
4) even if you’re working out, big law is a sedentary job. trying to reach a daily steps goal can also have a huge impact on your weight and level of fitness. if you aren’t hitting 8-10k a day, consider whether there are small changes you can make to help keep you active throughout the day.
5) try not to be so hard on yourself!! weight fluctuations can be stressful, but you’re also in a challenging and stressful career. be kind to yourself and be patient. recognizing that you want a change is the first step!
