I gave a verbal commitment for a job offer a couple weeks ago and just received the official offer letter yesterday. My feelings for the job have since changed and don’t feel like I am ready to make the move. Would it be bad for me to back out now?

Can you give the pay information? I would say you would be burning a bridge but you can’t just take a job you don’t want.

You haven’t signed anything yet so shouldn’t be an issue at all. (And you can still say no to them even after signing too but it looks slightly worse). Just tell them you can no longer accept the offer due to personal reasons and thank them for giving you the opportunity and consideration, really grateful blah blah blah. Most companies won’t even ask more.

Better to burn that bridge now than to take the job and leave in less than a year. I would follow my gut.

I recently didn’t take a job on the west coast bc I wasn’t ready for a cross country relocation. Boston to Florida is closer, but if you don’t have any friends or family there it’ll be tough. If you’re going to Miami it might work, but if it’s an even smaller city it might be tough
