I get $45/day per diem. I'm more used to a 15% expense budget and 4hr team dinners. Lately, I've been eating free breakfasts at hotel, free Cliff bars for lunch, and no dinner. I pocket $180 each week

Do you not make enough money already? What are you saving for? That is some garbage food right there.

Lol and I walk to the airport 4 hours before my flight to pocket the $25 for a taxi without a receipt, and I injured my knee 3 times so I can get some of the sweet free health insurance money.

Let me guess you also look at every receipt from your team, ask them to share one car during the week, and to get your approval every week before booking flights?

You’re gonna need that money in your pocket to pay for some serious health problems if you keep this up

If it's a breakfast buffet try and see if they'll give you a to go box too. Or add a guest to your reservation so you get two breakfast vouchers and say your wife is sick so you're taking a box for her to go.

Sounds good except I would change it to: 1. Get free hotel breakfast 2. Get a healthy salad for less than $10 for lunch 3. Go to hotel lounge (Marriotts usually have these) and get something to eat for dinner. You still get to save $35/day or $140/week!

I don't get why this is so complicated. Per diem = cash, vs expensing = reimbursement. They are intended to cover roughly the same expenses, just one carries a lot more administrative burden. As a result, per diems are generally lower per day than an expense limit, for which the maximum is not intended to be reached each and every day.

I didn’t even eat that bad in college. Yikes

OP when I was starting out and still very broke I spent 5 weeks straight in Austin. I ate free breakfasts, grocery shopped for all lunches and half dinners. I still ate well and used the money to buy my tablet!

My only suggestion is to remember to balance health with frugality. Ramen is low nutrition and high in salt, and a lot of the other things like Cliff bars are high in sugar. Try frozen veggies you microwave or other low sugar protein bars as well.

Is this a joke
