Yeah, uh... as someone that JUST went through the process of providing notice and is leaving for a competitor in the best way possible and has not burnt any bridges in the process / has been told by numerous partners at the firm I am leaving that there is a place for me if I want to come back at any point in the future... don't say "I'm giving my 2 weeks and I'm not interested in a counter." Be gracious. Be respectful. Be grateful. Let them counter if they want to, but politely decline the counter and be firm in your decision, in a respectful way. They probably won't match your offer anyway; a $40k increase is a lot. It seems like this is a decision you've been thinking about A LOT, so let them know that. Let them know that it wasn't an easy decision for you. Let them know you feel that this is the right decision for you, and perhaps give them reasons why - but be smart about the reasons you give (e.g. this raise will help me get a down payment on a house together, or help me pay off my student loans quicker, or let me travel internationally more often.... not "you guys didn't pay me what I'm worth so I'm leaving"). Cyber, in particular, is a small world right now.

Take the other big 4 offer

I got no raise and no bonus this year at my Big 4 firm, and I just took an offer at another firm for $50k more and $20k signing bonus. F the D. Look out for yourself and get paid.

Best of luck at your new role with our competitor!

First of all, Deloitte will likely not match a $40k increase. Second, even if they do, people will remember that you did - both from the other firm and within Deloitte. Partners sometimes have long memories with this sort of thing - the impact to your reputation within the firm will probably not be great. Even if they offer a counter match, some partners may feel like you weren't happy with your pay raise, so you went out and got another offer and twisted the firm's proverbial arm to get what you wanted (even if that isn't what you did). You'll also end up getting screwed in terms of compensation next year.

All Big 4 firms do essentially the same shit, unless you're goal is to make Partner, fuck brand loyalty and go get paid how you can. If you're goal is to make Partner, then you gotta suck it up and get low pay but build loyalty points.

OP... here's some general life advice: With rare exception, never take a counter offer. And counter offers at your level are not one of those rare exceptions.

Ex-Big 4 folks at MBB: how has the experience been for you so far? Any of you been in a situation where you’re coming to a MBB in a lower role but have excelled in moving up quickly? (Or not.) Thinking about making the leap but would love to hear if the MBB hype was worth it. (FWIW: My work hours are 65-80/wk so I’m pressed to think it’ll be that much worse on the other side.)

One thing about the Big 4, they will use and abuse you if you let him. They dont give a damn about worklife balance, your personal career wants, or your advancement. They want you to stay where they want you to be.

Been 2 weeks and I am tired of pumping. I only pump like 20-30 per session and 5x a time but each time it takes almost 1h from start to finish (lube the flange, gather the equipment, find a spot, find my water/food, pump, clean up and put stuff away) and I am not even washing them (hubby is doing that). What did you do to make it more efficient? Also I can't seem to figure my flange fitting. I follow the guidelines and the suggested one is more uncomfortable than a large size. Help.
