I am looking to make a career change to HR. I currently make 75K as a sales and development coach. I had a recent offer for a state government position in a talent acquisition role but I’d be taking a $25K pay cut. I am extremely over qualified for the position but it could possibly be a stepping stone and gives me the time to acquire SHRM certifications and possibly start taking classes to get my MBA. My question is those currently in an HR role, would this move make sense to you?

I was debating between two offers and decided to go with company A(less money, more interesting role). But the Manager from B went above and beyond to give me better pay&connected with me personally. He is super nice and called me 3 times to give me updates and got an offer ready within a day. He even said if I don’t go with him it’s okay and he can also help me decide on other offers as a career coach. I’m genuinely upset that I won’t work with him and don’t know how tell him nicely on Monday.

Has anyone had success renegotiating pay while remaining in the same position? The last two years have significantly changed my local market and the less-than-inflation federal pay raises are not cutting it. I'd be seeking 3 steps within my current grade, but I don't know if my management even has a mechanism to make the change if they wanted to. I am aware of the Quality Step Increase, but I don't think that's the solution here.

So…..my director has been in the position for a little over a year. We’ve been working our tails off and last quarter were informed of no bonuses. I understand that business is down and need to save money. The straw for us was a company holiday party. They completely forgot to have one and now taking us to a bar for drinks and appetizers. Someone asked if that includes a dinner and they said no. The optics is just so bad. Any advice? Really rethinking my current situation and need to reevaluate.

In my personal life I prefer a cropped vibe and professionally I buy things that don’t require tucking. Even button ups, I might tuck one side but I a prefer a casual untucked look vs tucked. 23 as fixed ctc is 27. Designation manager

Fractal :
26 as fixed and 2.5 as yearly committed pay (fixed?) so total 28.5 is fixed.
