Yes I would care. DUIs are such a selfish offense and there’s no excuse for it. I’m glad you’re hard on yourself, let’s make sure it doesn’t happen again. Sending you good vibes nonetheless
Let this be your rock bottom. You can rationalize it this way to yourself, and make sure it’s the point at which you decided to change some of your habits. People will respect that if you have the chance to explain
In the scheme of things in 5-10. No, just focus on getting help. Get a lawyer, get some therapy. You’ll be alright. I used to represent drunk drivers so I’ve seen a bunch of them.

Just focus on getting a good lawyer and getting it reduced to reckless driving. Innocent until proven guilty. Do not DO NOT plead guilty to DUI. It’s your first offense so they’ll give you a plea deal.
I was in the same scenario and got it reduced, my company found out from points on my license (they have to have corporate car insurance when I traveled). Told my manager the cop was a di** and gave me a ticket for no reason, but I was busy with traveling so I didn’t contest and just paid the fine. He just said “drive carefully”, and that was that.
No big deal. You’ll bounce back, and it’ll just be something you laugh at in the future. But definitely make sure you do not get a DUI conviction. It’ll be expensive, mine cost 12k with all things combined, but worth it for not having to worry about future employment.
Not everyone who gets a DUI is an alcoholic...Jesus
Employer may care if putting you up for client work that requires additional background check.
Canada probably won’t let you into their country, not sure about UK or EU.
Will clarify as someone who spends a lot of time on both sides of the border, a felony conviction will disqualify you from crossing
I got a DUI, knocked down to reckless, it is the biggest regret in my life but it hasn’t effected any company I have worked for including Accenture.

Reckless will drop off your record eventually too. Best case scenario
It would be a breaking factor if all things were considered equal between you and another candidate for me. I would do my best to give you the benefit of the doubt as I try to keep personal life opinions out of my professional life, but similar to what JPM said.. I would definitely be thinking about that as I was interviewing you.
Get an amazing attorney. They’ll be able to help. I’ve seen really guilty people be minimally impacted by paying for the best representation
I wouldn’t. My friend got a dui after drinking one glass of wine…

Backing up p1, if a cop ever asks you have you been drinking, say no. Even if you say just 1, that’s enough probably cause for them
I don’t care one single bit. Probably neither would your current employer. Maybe future employers might.
Look, you made a mistake. We all do. Learn from it and you’re good to go.

You need to check your firm's internal requirements as to which offences you have to disclose as part of your 'fit and proper' person assessment that many accounting or consulting firms have (and if you're a member of a professional body, check their reporting requirements as well). Then you can think about your next approach. Things like speeding tickets or parking fines are normally not disclosure, but more serious matters may be.

Only if it’s a conviction. Not for an arrest.

I have a DUI conviction (15 years ago) and it has not hindered my career. Good luck!
I get the issue about your name showing up in Google search.
I got involved in some lawsuits I’d rather bury. Post more social media about yourself, register for some of those address sites and maybe post a video or two. That could help bury the news.
You may also be able to request that websites/news sources remove the post or at least any photos. Search on reputation mending for ideas.
Most people however won’t hold a dui against you. Unless you work in a sept that requires special clearances or has safety concerns.
My company has security requirements so I’d need to know if certain employees got a dui, but that generally doesn’t apply for consultants
Depends the country. In some countries they don't care for example south America

Yea it’s a country! Just like Africa
If you’re an immigrant, it will matter a LOT .. when you go in for visa interviews etc. they will question that charge for sure. Every time.

Can’t you get reduced and do the whole classes/3 AA meetings a week for 3 months/nudge from the judge thing? So many people in. California do that
Warning: you may realize you have a drinking problem.
