I got a new iPhone on Friday and since it was already late IT hasn’t yet been able to get their hands on it and install firm software, which means I’ve gone almost 48 hours without checking my email. And surprisingly I didn’t die and the firm didn’t send security after me. Beginning to rethink if I really should be checking my email every hour on weekends

Resignation dilemma: after working in a small immigration/family law firm (2 attorneys) for almost 4 years with only a 5% salary increase in that time, I was recruited for a larger family law firm (9 attorneys), offering better benefits and a 45% pay increase, but less flexibility. When I informed my boss, she countered with a 36% increase and unlimited vacation. What started as an easy numbers decision has become a more complicated calculus now. Should I even entertain the counter offer?

What are your success stories about succession planning? I was hired as a lateral to work on/help sustain a retiring partner's book of business. During my interview in 2017, he said his target retirement would be 2019-2021. Now, after a good 2020 (for our practice area), he mused that he might not retire until 2025.
