Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.

RPL at many firms is 1-1.5m. Law requires 7+ years of postsecondary education with an average debtload currently over 160k. Law firms are among thr most profitable businesses in existemce with respect to margins and many firms have margins 40-60%+ (crazy high compared to the vast majority of industries). Salaries are far from outrageous at any level.
Everyone thinks salaries at their level are deserved and appropriate but everyone below them is lazy and underpaid. Only thing that changes is the year of OP
Woops overpaid*
Oh no, here we go again, brace yourself for angry junior comments

Seriously, why do people care what people underneath them make?
250k is a lot for cross reference checks and attaching signature pages. Especially for junior associates that aren’t good

Does anyone know any firms that have reduced first year salaries? I’m looking to lateral
I'm surprised the union associate hasn't been around. Where did they go!?

Pro bono takes on a whole new meaning when your firm pays you to fly into Poland to make Molotov cocktails for the war effort.
Junior here. Overpaid if you look at tasks and work quality? Sure. Overpaid if I look at my amounts collected vs. my pay? Not so clear. Firm has a pretty healthy margin there. I've got twice my new salary in collections right now after my hours/rate were written down.

We literally got just 1 small raise. The salary bump was mostly for midlevels and seniors. I don’t understand why the focus is on juniors

Tbh I truly don’t think most people give a shit. Most of the posts have been juniors complaining and seniors responding to that sentiment. This is the first I’ve seen that actually makes sense for juniors to be offended by, lol.
