I already have a Term Life and Health insurance from my job. Is there another reason to consider getting additional life insurance outside? I’m 33F, single, and may stay at my job for max 2 more years - but another employer I’d switch to, I presume, will also provide a term life for employees

Thanks all! I think I then will only get a separate life insurance (outside of work’s term life) once I start a family - and that could still be 5 year ish down the road, who knows. I have 800k net worth, and since im single at 33 presently, I’ll list my sibling / young nephews as beneficiaries for now.

Do you have a mortgage? Does your term life cover it? I’ve never worked at a place without term life.

If you’re single and have no mortgage, I don’t think you’d need more.

If you get more insurance get more term. The problem with workplace insurance is that you have no insurance if you leave your job.

Cheaper if you get a 20 year term policy now to lock in a rate. You could get a low one (100k) to cover the expenses involved with your death. Who would be your beneficiary? I wonder if as a single person having long term care insurance would be good if you can afford it?

I didn't get a second policy until I had a lot more liabilities. I have a kid, I'm married, my wife is giving birth to our second in a month, we have a rental property, and two businesses we run together. All those liabilities are much bigger than my work policy. So I got extra. Other than that, you probably don't need it

In real estate private equity, 5 years experience as asset mgr. Should I stay at a firm with zero brand name recognition (new boutique started in 2018 outside of a major financial center with 750m AUM) where I am the main asset mgr as well as right hand man of the CFO but with 30% less than average comp. Or should I move to a bigger name with less responsibility/title prestige but with competitive comp and that brand name recognition? I plan to start my own firm in 5-10 years.
