I got an interview for Cyber Security account management renewal. I’m coming from Lube sales senior account management. The transition is a step back in seniority but 20k extra a year if I hit my quota and qualify for the bonus. I’d rather be in this industry but I may take a base pay decrease. The next position would be account management & right where I want to be. Is it worth taking the possible pay hit ?

If it gets you in the industry you want to be in and sets you up for what you want career wise there’s nothing wrong with a step back if it means jumping several steps forward.

How much do you make selling lube?

While having some leadership responsibility is a plus, the pay is only 65k after bonus and there is no commissions.

I went from Fuel Sales to Tech sales. The warning potential and job opportunities for the future make it worth it.

The only really opportunity you'd have is to stay where you are, go to another major or a smaller marketer. Once you get tech sales experience you'd have a lot more options (plus you don't need to travel to mines and other industrial locations).

You'll have an easier trying than me as I sold diesel and lubes are a little bit less of a commodity (technical product).

You gotta go tech sales. It’s worth it- your earning potential jumps drastically. Find a way to the enterprise and you’ll clear 300k

I'm in cyber security SaaS sales. If you can move into an AE position, the comp plans are around $300k/annum, 50% base and 50% commission. This first position will get you in the industry. Once you prove yourself, you'll be able to start looking at AE gigs.

How does contract to hire work? If I’m offered $37/hr on w2 for 3 months and then possibly a permanent position, how much can I expect to get annually as a full time company employee as a BI data analyst II? I have a M.S. and certificates in DA but this will be my first job as DA.
I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.

Hi All, I am currently a 4th year in medmal litigation and desperately am looking for a “pivot” into a new role that is more in-house/general counsel/non-litigation and no billables but I am completely stumped on where to even begin to look or what jobs I would qualify for. Which career path will u choose for yourself and why? Options - 1) CXO of large tech co., like FAANG 2) partner with b4/mbb 3) CXO of a unicorn - like stripe or what Facebook was in 2006/2007, with a huge upside when it goes public 4) start a company of ur own that has a decent shot of becoming successful. All the options will make u rich and yes u only have 4 options.

What is a reasonable length of time to stay at a firm before switching? Obviously, this varies based on circumstances, class year, work history, etc., which is understandable, but is there a rule of thumb for length of time that doesn’t raise red flags on a resume? I know in some industries a year is reasonable, but I feel like in the legal field, it’s longer. General thoughts on this? Thanks!

I currently work as a civil engineer/project manager for a county government. I recently applied to a private consulting firm and they are now working on an offer package to send over.

While I'd like to jump to the private side for several reasons (higher salary my #1), with the current macro economic uncertainties, I have some concern making the switch from a (generally) stable government job to a less stable (?) private company. Is there anything I can do when negotiating to mitigate this?
