I got an interview for technology controls audit in industry (bank) however I only have 6 months experience. There will be also a brief case study. Any tips or advice from someone who has been through this process?

If you have only 6 months experience, why are you looking to jump from your current opportunity? I have to believe you do not feel that you have learned everything there is to learn there.

Idk what a case study would be if you are doing it controls auditing. I’d take a look at some Sox controls and how you would audit them.

When I interviewed for an IT audit position industry, I had to pass an open book 25 questions CISA study question quiz, complete two case study scenarios in a live interview-like assessment, and then I had a three question written prompt to answer. It was a 4 hour interview… needless to say when I got the job, the job itself was way less difficult than I expected after such a rigorous process. I respect that the company tried to evaluate new hires technically, but the industry interview was 4 times as long as the two positions I’ve obtained in public accounting. Honestly, you probably never really know what to expect unless you have a recruiter facilitating. 🤷‍♀️

Case study on what? lol

I’ve been through the hiring process for an industry role and a consulting firm where they made me look through documents and write up test results as if I were doing an audit. Maybe it is something like that? I wasn’t interested in either opportunity after those type of assessments. Waste of time and not meaningful.

Hi! I'm currently trying to move into the IT field and have been getting a few interviews for smaller tech companies, but I'm interested in applying to larger names like Google. Does anyone happen to know what hiring managers or recruiters may be looking for in a cover letter? Do they really read cover letters or are they just scanned through ATS systems? Should I be trying to match keywords from the job listing or go with a more personal approach? Any advice would be appreciated!
