Was recently offer a position at Amazon, recruitor asked how much I want , I said 200k and then he told me for your position the midpoint at this location is 170k, then he asked me what’s the minimum number I’ll consider and I said 190k, and after 1 day he came back and told me it’s approved for 190k and how much extra miles they had to went to get it approve and no one make that much in the team currently. I suggest sharing your counter offer over the phone and follow up with an email. Make sure you have all your asks together in one request: base salary, bonus, sign on, pto, rsu or stock. If you want $100k, you may want to ask for $105k and let them work you down.

Also, is using the below language as a reasoning why I want a higher salary appropriate?
"Lastly, I closely reviewed the benefits package and have a great understanding of total compensation (base salary, bonus, 401k match, pension, etc.) for this role. After fully calculating total compensation for this offer vs total compensation at my current employer, there is not a large gap. This factor also went into my counter offer above. "
I would just say .... After researching market compensation and talking over with my family, I am looking for a TC of xx base, xx bonus, etc. I wouldn't bring in that the gap between your current pay is not large enough. If anything, I might say to them that I'm excited to have the opportunity to work at abc company but I can't take less pay. I'm looking for ....
