I got an offer from Consulting firm that provides businesses & technology consultancy and managed services to tier 1 banks and other finance companies.
In the offer letter they mentioned-
"-Non compete Restrictive period- 12 Months
-Restricted period- 12 Months "

What does mean? And what are the things to keep in mind before signing the offer letter with this condition?
Can I negotiate on this?

It means when you quit and go work for a competitor, that you don't tell your old company, and you don't update your LinkedIn or old colleagues.

funny

I'd read the details. Typically, it's limited to direct competitors; meaning consultancy agencies in banking. This leaves open a lot of areas similar like fintech, but now pay later companies and places like PayPal. I'm not a attorney and I haven't read your agreement so if you really aren't sure, you could have an employment lawyer review it.

like

I believe it’s a non-compete agreement. Which means you can’t work for a competitor of the company for a period of time after your termination. So, in this case you can’t go work for the companies competitors until 1 year after your last day working with them.

It's typically worded toward direct competitor. For example: if you were working for a car company (like ford), the non compete would prevent you from working at another direct competitor (like Chevrolet).

If your case, you couldn't work for a competing consultancy agency that works in banking for that period of time.

You could... but at the risk of violating the non-compete. The firm would also have to pursue legally.

Hello Fishes,

Is anyone here working on Data Management Associate role ?
I got a hint that you need to work end to end starting from ETL to Data visualization and all the other intermediate processes involved.

How is the WLB then? Is it okay to commit on such roles provided you are proficient in one part and have least exposure on the other sides.

Kindly share your valuable insights.
