That’s a question you have to answer for yourself
If you can afford it - do it. You might regret not taking advantage of the unique opportunity down the road.
If you’re young and got nothing to lose, why not see the world? You’re not getting any younger and you might just regret it down the road. You can always come back
Plus, financial impact is only temporary. You’ll likely get other things like free/affordable universal healthcare, cheaper rent and better food quality, so that somewhat cancels out?
yes its worth it
Personally I would do it. But it’s a personal calculus and only you can answer that question.
It’s worth it from the cultural/experience perspective. I’ve not worked in continental Europe, but I moved to the US from the UK and the outside perspective really helped.
I’d imagine it would be similar going the other way too and when you’re back in the US, you’ll have that experience with you.
The money aspect may be a tough personal choice, Europeans are used to having much smaller flats/houses in general, smaller cars (or no car depending which city you’re in), so some of those expenses may be lower to compensate the reduced pay… really depends on the place to be honest, there’s a huge range there, just like the US
I would 100% do it - currently in US from EU and think its an invaluable experience!

Same!
No don’t do it I’m out here in Norway paying $15 for a coffee and croissant
There is also no Amazon in some parts of Europe
They’ve just got electricity though…..
How to… get transfer? Like…… i want too 🥹

What’s the pay difference and estimated COL difference?
Fair point for sure
Where are you transferring to?
I am from Germany in the US right now - DM me if you have more specific questions
My friend just did this into the UK office of his firm. Try to understand the relocation package they’ll give you. They’re giving him his US salary for a year to “transition” and then will lower his pay to the UK rate. But he loves that he took the opportunity.
Any thoughts on transferring or doing a long project in Asia after covid? (China, Japan, Korea)
Please do it! Once in a lifetime opportunity, enjoy the ride…love goes by real quick
