I got another rejection today, this time for a position I was excited about and had gone pretty far in the interview process. I’m starting to wonder what I’m doing or saying to turn prospective employers off.

Any litigators who prefer litigating over clerking, or the other way around? I’m senior at a major appellant-side litigation firm. My boss has told me that there is a clerkship opening with a federal judge that I admire, and with his rec I would be a shoe-in. I like litigation and the opps it provides to drive change in the law, but this opp could open up some doors and give work life balance. On the other hand, I don’t know if clerking might be boring, or frustrating reading bad briefs. Thx!

The lawyer should be experienced in handling this 60 day grace period situation and developing alternate strategies - such as change of status to B1/B2 or applying to jobs from India. Working on applications for academic positions (tenure-track), and finding it extremely difficult to write a research statement that is not too close to my current research that hiring faculty would think I lack originality, but also not too far-fetched/unrealistic or on topics that I find interesting but has insufficient knowledge/expertise.
