Go for it. I interview no less than three times a year, and often more
Two reasons:
- interviewing is an important skill and needs practice
- you never know when a mundane recruiter email turns into an exciting opportunity you couldn't have planned for
Chief
Yes, always interview when offered a step up. It will bolster your confidence and let you know your market worth.
Never hurt to interview. It's just good practice IMHO.
But don't change just for a title, I wouldn't consider changing unless I got a significant bump (25-40%) for the right opportunity I would even consider a "demotion" in title.
Do it
Have the recruiter call to check the role, title, compensation and location. Always have those calls, as they take 15-30 min and require no preparation. Then if the role/etc sound good, proceed to interview. Don't waste your time for roles that are too far from what you want.
Thanks for the tips everyone. I haven’t been in consulting long and this is the first time it has come up :)
