How long til big4 start layoffs? No recurring rev & slow pipeline. They will hold people as long as possible primarily bc its “product” & expensive to hire & retrain but math will take over

Thoughts on returning to a prior firm? Bad idea? Or ok under the right circumstances? My main reasons for leaving were better salary and to live closer to family. I work quite a bit more now so I don’t see my family that often, and am always working when I do go visit. Also, interestingly, I received a significant raise at my last firm about a week before I gave notice. So they *were* willing to pay me more; it just happened too late.

So I understand age discrimination in the general sense and I believe in it. However, I think something that isn’t talked about is age/gender discrimination against women in the reproductive age range. I feel like people could be looking at me and thinking: if we hire her, she might get pregnant soon. It’s so unfair and this is why we have a wage gap (or one of the reasons)! Thoughts? How much do exit opportunities actually correlate to the law firm you’re working at? I often hear people advising to shoot for the V10s for the best exits, but do those firms actually give better chances than a V30? Are V10 clients only hiring directly from V10s? Trying to figure out whether choosing a V30 that I really liked over a V10 (that will probably make me hate my life) would actually be detrimental to future opportunities.
