Facebook (Meta) Hey there! I’m interested in applying for the Rotational Product Manager role at Facebook/Meta. I’m currently working as both a Senior CSM and a Product Specialist at a Health-Tech company. Would anyone be willing to offer a referral (I feel weird making this post, but, he we are haha). Happy to chat if needed. Appreciate your help :)

I interviewed for Data Analyst role at EY, it went well and the job sounds great, but I'm a bit hesitant to leave PwC because I really like the firm and I'm just 8 months in my job as an associate at a subgroup of ITS that has some focus on technology and analytics but it's mostly tax compliance.
I do want to transition to data analytics but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to go to another big 4, or maybe just look for a position in industry.
Any advice or similar experience?

It would be good to set expectations with your employees - establish with them the key outcomes and timelines for the various projects they are working on. As a new manager, you can establish regular checkpoints to determine progress. For the senior employee, be careful to avoid judgement based on their age/health requirements. Be clear and fair on the expected deliverables and accordingly adjust compensation based on that - if they can get the job done in 10 hrs or 2 hrs, that shouldn’t matter as long as they get the job done.
Typically any manager has to manage up, so you can bring the employees in to contribute to your overall presentation thereby giving them a sense of accountability and giving them the control of showcasing their prowess.
At the same time, understand from HR and your management the best path forward if the behavior doesn’t change. Many organizations deploy ‘performance improvement plans’ to ensure employees can prove they can meet the basic requirements of a role within a defined timeframe. It is a business after all and you have to do right by the company’s code.
I feel for you and wish you the best. This is going to be a great learning experience and right in the throes of what people management is all about.
Start making them fill time sheet and give them weekly target in terms of hours.. that should ease it a little
Find another job. Honestly for your sanity. I bet many a folks before you tried to manage those two and these two won out every time. Alternatively stay in your current job but don’t take it to heart that these guys are not that manageable.
