Looking for advice on career pivoting as it has been daunting. I have 10-YOE in public policy in Infrastructure financing, governance strategies and financial mgmt. Given my transferable skills, I have narrowed down my career pivot to :
1- Tier-1 consulting firms in strategy or business
2 - Non- technical role in a tech firm interested in fintec, AI and supply chain.

Any fishes willing to have chats and give advice on how I can proceed ?

How does a person know if they’d be good at sales? I started selling duct tape wallets as a 8 year old and have always been up for the hustle to make a few bucks. Just don’t know if it’s worth giving up my unfulfilling accounting career to give it a shot tho. Not even sure what kind of sales roles to apply for their. Any advice?

Hi! I’m running a startup after work for this neat web app idea for the last year and although we’re still building it, I feel like I’ve learned and directly applied the product management role. And I love it! My question is: should I list this as experience in my resume? I want to do this full time at a real tech company to get more experience just not sure if it would be helpful to get noticed. Currently F100 internal consulting for five years.

Would like some advice from partners. I was in financial services doing accounting, tax, technology and implementation for hedge funds through my career. I’m looking to settle on a specialty now. Is there anything specific you would advise for someone like me that’s not too far off from what I currently have on my resume? I’m looking for good upside that’s really a good career for the long haul. Thank you in advance!!

I can’t help but feel stuck in my career. I’m a licensed attorney in another country, but been working as a law clerk in a firm for about a year now. I was hoping to take the NY bar in February but the foreign law graduate restrictions won’t allow. Now, I have to wait till July! I can’t help but feel this way, and as much as I love my company, I’m beginning to dislike the role. Maybe it’s an ‘ego’ thing? Anyone ever been in this position? How did you get over it?

Hi y’all, I am a Design Strategist at a Minneapolis AD agency. I have 3 years of Ad experience, switched from corporate environment. If this year taught me anything it’s not to be surprised. After George Floyd I can’t help but judge my environment and how senseless and apathetic non-BIPOC people can be to our realities. A whole pandemic going on, a few days away from the election and I got laid off. I’m a Black woman with a strong work ethic, if anyone has career advice please share. Thank you!

Hi! 2019 grad and started working in-house at a large org. Learning a lot, my area is finance and corporate. Curious to know if there are any folks here who moved to a big law firm from an in-house position (very early on in their career). Was it easy? Did you like it? Very happy in my current position - I def have great work life balance, but feel need more than that. Thanks in advance.

Best exit opportunities you’ve heard from Big 4 TAS Real Estate?

Long shot but asking anyway: has anyone in here successfully moved into a European practice from the UK (as a non-EU citizen) post brexit either changing firms or as an internal transfer?

Is it possible? If so, how was the bureaucracy? Any regrets?

I am thinking of exploring this as the UK is becoming slowly more frustrating to live in. I speak fluent English, French and German and have a masters in European Political Economy as well as 3 YOE as a consultant so am not a complete chancer.

I’m sending resumes out far and wide, ideally I’d be in a new role ASAP. I’m already starting to get requests for phone screenings so formal interviews will probably be on the way. The kicker is that my wife is 6 months pregnant and our first child is due next February, which is busy season the public accounting jobs I am applying to. I feel like requesting paternity leave or letting them know a baby is coming will make hiring me more difficult. How do I approach this, and when do I do it?
