Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Take the interview
If they ask, just tell them you didn’t get the job because you were over qualified.
Most likely a new recruiter just pulling your resume . Happens all the time.
Yes, a different one. But would you it make sense to talk to the recruiter? I do not want to be disappointed like when I received the rejection.
Talk to the recruiter. I was rejected for a position at Mercer in SF but hired for the same position in NY. If you went through the interview process, it was the hiring manager not the recruiter who made the decision not to hire you. If this role reports to a different hiring manager, you could get a different outcome.
That makes sense! Thank you!
