Title at my current job is Project Manager, which is not totally incorrect but my role is really niche and more on the operational side (COO team). I’m wondering whether it’s worth it to get a PMP certification so that I would be more qualified/attractive to transition into a traditional PM role when I move on from my current job. Is this something that is actually given credit on a resume or would it be a waste of time/money?

I am a Technical Specialist, working as software & functional developer in automotive industry from past 6 years.

My client wants to hire me directly but I'm at offshore, he says he will give short term onsite for three months and within those days he will try to hire me directly. I'm on my ~8th client project since joining (1.5 yrs) and every project the leadership has consistently said things along the lines of "in all my years this is the worst project ever, never had such a challenging client mess, and difficulty managing expectations, and understaffed etc"

I’m not convinced that contracting on 1099 is better than W2, since you pay 15% extra self employment tax.

If you have one 1099 gig you can claim all your expenses for the year against that and then go W2 for the rest. Am I missing something?
