I graduate next week on Friday and I still don’t have a job offer. I’ve applied to probably over 100 jobs and have not gotten replies. I interviewed with KPMG and EY and did not get an offer from either. Any tips on my resume or maybe certifications I should try to get now to make my resume better? I want to work in finance or technology, I am looking for remote analyst roles, because I will be staying in Tallahassee another year.

One thing on your resume -
Your job responsibilities/tasks are either WAAAY too detailed, or no detail at all.
Also you didn’t list any achievements in either of these jobs as an intern. Your resume comes off as a “do’er”, not an “achiever”.

like

You have a lot of white space on your resume. Try to put the gpa on the same line as major.
Add impact to your work experience. Like decreased work load by x%.
Add school/personal projects you have worked on.
Remove languages section
Skills section you can move it under education section. And have diff categories like language, tools, libraries etc.
add any volunteer experience you have
I also notice you are currently interning at intact. Do they convert interns to FT? Ask them.

You can try out cloud certifications, servicenow, salesforce.

Did you apply for tech risk at EY? I could be wrong, but I think in general, tech risk has less applicants so it might be easier to get an internship. Perhaps picking up an accounting minor would help.

Send your resume to your Career Center advisor and ask for feedback (in addition to the feedback here!) They can also help you in the job hunt. Send an email beforehand and go into their walk-in hours — tell them how you’ve been applying, sites you’ve used, etc. and send in your resume and one cover letter for them to review. Sending it to them before the meeting preps both of you for what you want to talk about and ensures they know where you’re at.

Have you joined Nole Network to apply? Look there, a lot of places around town like to hire recent grads. If you haven’t already, make a LinkedIn and find jobs through there as well. I’m also graduating and I don’t have a full-time job, but I worked with my career advisor on my application materials, fixed up my LinkedIn, and found a really good paid internship in my niche field for the summer.

Good luck and go Noles!

I would also recommend signing up for Handshake at FSU!

Have you tried some of the smaller firms? Or startups?

Got some good internships remove your verbal languages and add some more tech skills personal tech related projects or tools you have used

You gotta expand on your achievements and accomplishments in each job descriptor

Maybe add related coursework under education? Add other activities- volunteer work, org participation :)

You need to beef up your resume with active verbs, quantifiable achievements and a professional summary

Others have offered some great advice so far. Also, remember that KMPG and EY are the most difficult firms to break into; don't get down on yourself. There's nothing wrong with starting at a smaller firm.

I don’t know how to reply, but thank you all for your feedback.

Two things I’d recommed:
1. Be more specific: when explaining the jobs you’ve worked in the past, you’re focusing too much on the tools you used and what you did, rather than what you used them for. Even when you do explain this, your statements are too general. For example, you built a custom application “to fit their business needs.” What needs? What was the app used for afterwards? How did you contribute/help the company? Be a bit more specific. Avoid general terminology.
2. Separate your skills: I’d have a section for “soft skills” and another for “technical skills,” that way it’s easier to read and you can highlight more of your competencies by filling out that white space. Also, certain recruiters look for specific things on resumes and they might find those better this way.

Hope this helps :)

Hey I fix resumes like 5-10x a week for my campus roles, and I can definitely help for free + in less than 20min. (Happy to help!) Dm me on LinkedIn if interested @ dara minervini

Skills section is irrelevant

Firms should really start lowering the mandatory retirement age in partnership agreements before these old out of touch partners drive the entire industry into the ground. These people legitimately think the high turnover we’re experiencing is caused by remote work and people “not feeling close” rather than insane hours and compensation 🤦🏼‍♀️.

Hi everyone,

I was affected by layoffs about a month ago and urgently looking for a good immigration lawyer. The lawyer should be experienced in handling this 60 day grace period situation and developing alternate strategies - such as change of status to B1/B2 or applying to jobs from India. There is a lot of noise and wrong information going in the market so looking for good recommendations.

I have very little time left for my grace period to end and need a consultation soon. Thanks
