I graduated college in May and can’t find a job post-graduation. Graduated from a good university but was more for a B student and didn’t get the best internship opportunities. I always assumed with my degree I would be able to find something pretty easy.

Is there a specific job I should look into/ should I take a sales job and try to pivot after a year?

Or should I try to get into a MBA program and reapply after that?

Do not under any circumstances get an MBA without 3-5 years of full-time experience first.

Senior Associate 1 start doing your research before making negative comments it is not professional.

All finance jobs are sales jobs and if you can do that, you will be able to do anything.

like

I don’t think that all finance jobs are sales jobs. For instance, think about corporate finance. It’s mostly internal with light supplier / investor relations. Thoughts?

But, with that said, getting your foot in the door in finance sales can help you pivot into something you’re more interested in. Just an idea, but networking is usually the easier route, just takes persistence, and understanding what it is you truly want.

Investment Banking Analyst 1 if you need to get an MBA then get one, but try to get one at a ivy-league university or top university. The reason I say this is because if you look at investment banker profiles who work at top elite investment banks like myself you will find most if not all of them went to a ivy-league university or top university. Yes some of them did start as analysts and went for the MBA two or three years later because they were asked to in order to get promoted to associate. However, some MD's at investment banks only have a bachelors degree because they are rainmakers for the investment bank and they decided to give them a pass on the MBA requirement. If you decide to go for an MBA make sure your experience is in consulting or private equity/venture capital because ivy-league universities like Harvard Business School has a preference for MBA candidates with experience in these areas.

Investment Banking Analyst 1 if you work two to three years as an analyst/senior analyst or consultant/senior consultant outside of investment banking while doing an MBA you will need to apply to the summer MBA associate program at the elite investment banks to get your foot in the door as an associate and not as an analyst.

My options are either go for masters or go for another bachelors in IT/computer science. What could be my other options? Thank you.

Do I take a job at a more boring company that’s a 41% pay increase and comes with 1% equity?

Current company: a fun and exciting fintech startup that’s about to raise a Seed/Series A. Possible to be promoted in the next year with a pay bump (still likely not as much as the job offer)

Potential company: A marketplace that sells used phones online and has been profitable for 5+ years.
