I graduated in 2016 with BA in Graphic Design, but for different circumstances ive been working in sales, marketing, and managing possitions, i havent left design behind, doing graphic design as a freelancer as often as i could, but never really got into the industry, thanks to my experience i got a marketing director position, but im really looking into getting a more creative kind of job, im really lost in how to proceed next and i would appreciate some advice on how to move forward, Thanks!

What will rebounding after COVID look like? After layoffs, office closures etc. How long could it take to break back in now that networking opportunities have changed, offices are remote, hiring and positions open are limited in comparison to the numbers let go? How realistically will people not be able to reclaim a job in this industry? How long is too long of gap due to COVID and will companies ie (young recruitment teams who are naive) overlook thise gaps due to the economy?

Does anyone work for a company that is still hiring? It feels like all companies are freezing hiring these days.

Interested in hearing about anyone who has added a second full time staff person. Current setup is two main advisors (have a few licensed solicitors) and one main admin. Getting to the point where she has too much on her plate. We have been bringing on paid interns to alleviate some of the stress. Sometimes I am envious of other positions unrelated to design. Portfolios are tough, time consuming, and expensive! I’ve invested over half a k in the last two years fixing and redesigning my portfolio website, and that doesn’t include the time I put into it!

I wouldn’t change my profession in a heart beat but odd how it feels like we are the only group of professionals that has to invest money just to present our work.

Does it make sense to hire someone with UX design knowledge at an in-house company? We have one main website and two smaller websites (merch and media) and no mobile app. We have two candidates for an open graphic designer position but one has UX design experience and is asking for more pay. We aren’t creating new websites or anything, but that person might be updating the main Wordpress site. How might that skill set benefit us?
