Leave. Interview elsewhere now that you have experience. You’ll probably get a much better offer. Unless you’re super passionate about this work and at a startup or getting equity. The fact that they slashed pay in half and kept it that low for 1-1.5 years is a MAJOR red flag 🚩

Have you checked out the board on Fishbowl? You might be in luck with a direct connect to a hiring manager. It's worth making a post about if you know the company you'd like to get in with.

It sounds like the conversations you should be having are with recruiters. If your TC was cut in half they appear to have no loyalty to you. Loyalty in the business world, at least at the entry-level, is a made-up feel good concept that companies invoke to get you to perform well for less TC. I would start looking for other jobs. Spruce up your resume, start reaching out to recruiters on LinkedIn, learn your worth, and find a place that values you at that level.

Thank you! Am definitely looking for an out now and have had great experience interviewing thus far. But thought might as well to increase my salary now while I work up an offer somewhere else :)

DE1 makes a good point. With you being a recent grad, there isn't a lot of incentive from the company side for them to remain loyal to you. I would keep doing what you're doing in terms of looking a good recruiter to connect with, going on interviews etc because in all likelihood now that they've got you @30k, they aren't going to double your salary. I would still bring it up as a conversation (this was supposed to be temporary due to covid, etc, etc) but don't get your hopes up. Best of luck on your journey.

Thank you for your advice. Definitely - will keep up with my job search in the meantime. :)

I agree with DE1, I think that's your first port of call and then if not, you need to look for other offers to leverage. I wouldn't expect loyalty in the business world honestly, and I think the quicker you're able to either initiate the convo or jump ship the better, but you need to figure out if the career progression is worth it to stay put

like

Makes sense - thanks for your input! Definitely looking to jump ship ASAP. It’s been over 2 years and there was no hiring done at all in my team, feels like I’ll be stuck in the same position for at least a year or so

Talk to your manager before looking elsewhere. Say, essentially, exactly what you typed here. I would ask for the $60k plus whatever annual pay raise you should have received. If they say “you get a raise” then you win! If they say “no raise” then start looking for other jobs.

Look elsewhere, get a decent offer in hand, and then either accept it or use it as leverage with the company you are at. However, I would still lean in the direction of going to a new company. What they have done to you is not right.

Definitely looking to jump ship soon 😅 wish the interview process was shorter

Moms, both husband and I are nearing the end of our parental leave. We live in a two bedroom in NYC. We are thinking of hiring a nanny. The plan is that I would work from one room and husband would work from another room. We can move the changing table and pack n play in the living room, and the nanny and the baby can hang in the living room. Does this sound like a good plan?

MD or MBA? I got into both. I know most will say choose the MD, but hear me out: MD: I'd have to go into a specialty to have a good IRR given my salary & the $200K+ debt. By the time I'd be done with residency the US may be in a single payer system. US doctors make 3x the amount in France and 2x vs UK.. I currently make what a doctor makes in France. That could be the future here, too. MBA: 1 yr. Europe. I'd make about 15-20% more vs. now.
