I grew up poor, now most middle class salary looks amazing to me that I feel guilty asking/looking for more $ because I feel what I am making is more than I deserve but I haven't had proper raise in 5 years. Not counting 2% annual adjustment as raise.

Never feel bad for wanting to improve your financial situation! You busted your tail to get to this point and shouldn’t settle due to self-guilt!

I can totally relate to this. I spent 10+ years in an organization being paid much less than people who weren’t pulling their weight.. I did not keep up with industry standards/expectations because i felt i was making an adequate amount to get by.. On a whim, I attended an interview for another organization - this was a referral and I did it mainly as a favor to a former colleague.. This was such a reality check, because their starting salary range before benefits was almost twice what I was making.. Coming from a background where financial security wasn’t a given, definitely gives us blinders of one sort or another. Please remember: Self Love and deservability are a continuous process.

Compare your salary to what others make in the same industry. That should give you a basis if you should feel guilty or not. Only you can advocate for yourself and if you don’t, you will be stuck in the same predicament for a while.

What is the best way to do salary research? I use websites like glassdoor but the range is wide & tbh seems to be more for entry level people. I thought this app had people discussing salary but I haven't seen much.

Now, I was bit nervous but confident and even though the interview was only for half an hour but it was exhaustive. Moreover I was kinda immature to handle this situation. So, in this scenario will there be any chance of rejection despite the fact interview went too good ? Now, I am kinda upset

Have an interesting be possible offer. The salary "might" be on the low end of my desire number, the health benefits won't start right away; takes 60 days then they begin on the first of the month following the 60 days. 401k contributions don't start until 6 months. PTO is only 10 days plus a number of company holidays.

Other than more base salary, are the things negotiable, like more PTO? What about also basking for compensation to cover Cobra payments during the transition phase?

Hello 👋🏽

First post on here!

Professional in the Midwest with 5 years experience. Recently got an offer for a fully-remote (main benefit I want) Senior Business Systems Analyst role at $112k base + 10% Bonus + Equity Grant of $20k in the next 4 years (basically an additional $5k / year).

This seems more than in line with the national average for this position.

My main counter that I would like to ask for is a $10k Signing-Bonus.

Is the Equity Grant basically the Signing-Bonus?

When asking and being given the budgeted salary range for a specific role, how accurate is the range typically? Say they stated 120-140k? Would this most likely be on the lower end, or is it the actual budget for the role and there's not much room to give above? If offered the role, what would I expect and/or counter?

I’m starting in audit accounting in Charlotte, NC as an associate. What’s the best way to find out how much I should be looking for when it comes to salary?
