The #1 reason I took my current role is because my recruiter was phenomenal. Knew taking the job would mean I could offer that to others. Earlier in my career, I was spinning the drain in certain jobs trying to counteract bad recruiting practices set forth by the company while trying to be a candidate advocate and got tired of that fast! Think of that when turning down this role. It’s not only a crappy way to treat you, it will become how you are asked to treat others. That’s so important! Not too critical at all.
Very true! Great insight.
I think you thank and decline the opportunity. Beyond the financial (offering below the range is already a red flag), two thi gs caught my eye:
1. You should trust your gut before stepping into an unknown environment. If you're getting a bad taste now, when they're trying to impress and "win you over", that's probably going to get worse once you're actually in there.
2. They're conducting the conversation with you in a way you would not operate as a recruiter. Means there is misalignment between your values and theirs. Whenever that happens, it typically does not lead to healthy long term relationship.
Wow def have bad vibes on this one. I would turn it down !
why did you turn it down the first time? they obviously couldn’t find another candidate to accept the role and I would be curious why
I just got a verbal offer from a “friend” with no job description or written offer and $25k less and one zoom interview. It’s all so strange what people do.
