I had a conversation with someone about pivoting from Tech Strategy consulting (4yrs) to private equity. He agreed to refer me to some small shops, but then asked for my GPA (3.2) and stopped talking to me. Is GPA still reverent after 4 years of work experience?

Have worked as a temporary high school teacher, sub, videographer, and most recently sales rep. Was doing good there but got really screwed over with technical payment issues & workplace discrimination. At any rate, I want a stable real job. I am currently employed as an assistive technology position that was full time and was cut to part time. I am seeking expand my career possibilities. I can go to Accessibility however it seems every job requires engineering background. With that said, I prefer working with people. Looking at the screen of code is not what I find exciting.

Currently a full time contractor in HR at tech company earning $50/hr. Was presented an opportunity to do a part time 20/hr per week job at $75/hr. My ultimate goal is FIRE so I’m working currently on starting a cleaning business for cash flow.

Part of me is still scared entrepreneurship isn’t going to work out. If I take new job at financial/risk/accounting firm, I lose opp to convert to FTE at tech co. if my co fails. But it’d give flexibility and decent pay. Should I take it?

New company is offering head of a department role, compensation is 20% higher plus stock options and 10k signing bonus. Current company countered with 10% more, effectively increasing my current base by 36% with a Sr management role. The people at my current company are great and with new management they are tackling some of my frustrations from the past.
