I had a conversation with someone about pivoting from Tech Strategy consulting (4yrs) to private equity. He agreed to refer me to some small shops, but then asked for my GPA (3.2) and stopped talking to me. Is GPA still reverent after 4 years of work experience?

Hi guys. Looking to understand a bit more about the Deloitte M&A Operations team (part of Transaction Services). They do a lot of ODD on deals. How does this team compare to T2 firms? Also is ODD work interesting (I know it's not as interesting as CDD)? Any insights would be useful. Thanks!

Additional Posts in Career Pivot

Hello Everyone, I have started my own consulting company. We are skilled team of full stack developers and eagerly looking for work. If anyone can help and suggest on getting few leads then it would be of great help!!

Dynamic strategy consulting background (6 YOE) looking to shift to sales/BD.

I know how to sell and build relationships/report.

Does that sound interesting to anyone? Hoping to get to work asap.

Anyone switch from being a financial analyst to software engineering/programming/any other techy job? How was the transition? Was it worth it?

How do you decide that the career pivot you want to do is truely your passion to pursue over the safety of what you’ve had success with before? How do you identify the new career path and decide to pursue that passion for a career instead of a hobby?

Has anyone here pivoted from property management to 6 figure role? If so, how did you do it and what do you do now?

Hey! I know what type of role I want for my next move and I wanted to ask if there’s anybody who would be willing to refer me? The position I really want is a Customer Success Manager role, given the number of years I have in consulting and sales I believe this is the perfect fit for me. After researching what the role does I feel very confident that I will be successful and it is a job I would love.

I'm at a career juncture and have decided on a career in anti-money laundering as my new path. I'm also highly interested in additional education to further my career and am eyeing graduate school. Which is best? A law degree or a master's in international relations? Those are where my interests lie. I keep reading that JDs are valued in compliance but am wondering if a different graduate program is better for my goals. I already plan to obtain the CAMS certification. Thank you!

Hi. I am so frustrated with how long it is taking to get hired. I feel crazy & sad. I am a 24 yr old- got my bachelors in 2020. Have worked as a temporary high school teacher, sub, videographer, and most recently sales rep. Was doing good there but got really screwed over with technical payment issues & workplace discrimination. At any rate, I want a stable real job. So for the past 4 months I have been applying & either get interviews with rejection or just not going forward at all. Help

Hey all, new to this bowl. Currently a Tech Recruiter and eventually want to make the transition into a HRBP or HR Generalist role. Would love to hear from anyone who started in recruiting then transitioned into another area of HR. Have been thinking of either working on PHR certification or MBA with focus in HR mgt. Thanks!

I am currently employed as an assistive technology position that was full time and was cut to part time. I am seeking expand my career possibilities. I can go to Accessibility however it seems every job requires engineering background. With that said, I prefer working with people. Looking at the screen of code is not what I find exciting.

Currently a full time contractor in HR at tech company earning $50/hr. Was presented an opportunity to do a part time 20/hr per week job at $75/hr. My ultimate goal is FIRE so I’m working currently on starting a cleaning business for cash flow.

Part of me is still scared entrepreneurship isn’t going to work out. If I take new job at financial/risk/accounting firm, I lose opp to convert to FTE at tech co. if my co fails. But it’d give flexibility and decent pay. Should I take it?

Any thoughts on how a Senior Account Director for a B2B SaaS co. with a diverse book (across multiple verticals; including some pretty big logos) could pivot into consulting? Have an MBA in finance and media mgmt fwiw.

Current teacher here, 11yrs in, and desperately looking for a career change! Anyone have some leads, or advice? 🙏🏻

Anything is welcome! I would prefer remote work, if possible, only because I have a 1.5yo at home. I don’t have much experience to offer beyond my years in education and some graphic design side work which seems to make me very under-qualified when applying anywhere.

Hey everyone. Newbie here. Any advice taking a new job or counteroffer from my current company? New company is offering head of a department role, compensation is 20% higher plus stock options and 10k signing bonus. Current company countered with 10% more, effectively increasing my current base by 36% with a Sr management role. The people at my current company are great and with new management they are tackling some of my frustrations from the past.
