I had a one on one work meeting with a partner and I noticed hyperventilation was coming. And I was having trouble breathing. I did talk through what I needed to quickly but then again I said out loud I can't breathe, twice. Partner didn't say anything about it after a brief silence. And proceeded with the meeting. I did get better towards the end of the meeting but..
I don't know what response I was expecting. I just wanted to share this experience where I feel safe to do so here.

When I first started I was in a meeting in a small crowded room. I had a panic attack come on and wasn’t able to leave. My pitts/shirt got sweaty. My forehead was dripping sweat and I was just hunched over holding my heart. I completely understand your situation. Don’t feel embarrassed and feel free to express your condition with your team. If you need a minute to collect yourself they will know for next time. I wish I had done this instead of getting a dirty look from my director at the time 🙃.

Ignore it when people act like paying attention to yourself is annoying or unrelated. You only have yourself to look out for you so be unapologetic. I personally also get panic attacks at meetings, esp when I’m new for the job and learning. If you’re down to address it, I would suggest a quick guided meditation before your meeting to help you feel more grounded/in control.

Had never had a panic attack in my life until the beginning of this year when I went on some medication that caused them. They are scary and you are not alone! Now that I am not on the pills anymore I obviously am not getting them, but I started to truly study up on mindfulness and what it actually is and how to practice it and that has helped me have a lot more awareness of my mind/body to calm myself down when I feel like I do not have control.

After one year of fertility treatments and one failed embryo transfer, I’m so happy to say that I’m 13 weeks pregnant! We had PGT/CCS testing on the blast and this embryo was euploid. Additionally, my husband and I both had carrier screenings done and were both negative for all genetic diseases. Is further genetic testing really necessary? My OB is suggesting NIPS, but I’m not sure I see the value.

I've strongly suspected that I have ADD for years and just read Delivered From Distraction (amazing book) which convinced me that it was worth finally getting assessed. For those who are struggling during the holiday season: I finally had the courage to talk to my doctor about my depression and drinking problems. I don't know why I waited so long. Started crying in the first 5 minutes and felt immensely better after the session. There is no shame in looking for help. We can still be successful and strong and self-sufficient. Hang in there!

I really need to take a shower. It’s been a while and I know I smell bad. I just can’t get the motivation to go do it. This happens to me occasionally. Moved to industry thinking it’d be easier and less stressful. Definitely easier but the stress now is coming from never knowing if I’m doing a good enough job because I’m not as busy as I used to be. I feel like I could get fired at any point. Also, there’s a huge emphasis here on meetings and socializing, whereas I’m more used to getting my stuff done and keeping the client happy. Can anyone relate? Is this what anxiety feels like?
