I had a Sheraton I’m staying in this weekend and reach out to me to say “Please note, that corporate rates are for business travel only and require proof of eligibility.”

Use our code all the time on vacation. It’s a valid code and you work for the company with proof. Store visits is a great idea to use.
I'm assuming you're Accenture. Depending how much fun you want to have, literally visiting a store. Marriott is a massive client. Should tell them you're doing site research based on some concerning insights HQ has been receiving about franchisees 😆😂
Most of the higher Cat 5-8 haven’t been asking for
Proof of ID for a few years now, at least at high demand areas. And especially if your rate is insanely low. I stayed at Ritz Carlton South Beach for $115 on GDY over the weekend recently. Average nightly rate was $700+ that weekend. Yes they asked for my ID

The hotel is sold out this weekend so it sounds like he’s trying to run me off… while I don’t really want to get into before my stay, I’ll send him a nasty gram once I leave.
I’m not trusting hotels at the moment. Now that they have some demand back I feel like they are really trying to make up for lost time. I’m fine with this to some extent, but not with shady or scare tactics. I just tried to book a hotel in a room block for a wedding. I called and talked to multiple people, including a manager, and all said they could only give me a rate that was 3x the block rate as it was filled. If the bride hadn’t been my sister I would never have stressed out the bride/groom with this issue and would have probably just paid the rate. However, my sister confirmed that not even 50% of their block had been filled and called to find out wtf was going on. Turns out they told others the same about the block being full.
So who knows if they’d enforce your business travel, but they sure seem to be going to extreme lengths to make up rev.
Fair enough yes definitely have to play nice till the wedding - I assumed it was a while ago :)
“I’m in town for store visits for my client.”
Client doesn’t have to be local. Store visits are best on weekends.
Just don’t check in with your family in tow 🤣

I thought the Accenture travel policy allows us to use our corporate codes for personal travel. Maybe I’m mistaken, but shouldn’t be a problem if I’m with my family.
Surprisingly I was asked for proof when checking into the Cosmopolitan a few weekends ago - luckily keep my not yet expired but deactivated Deloitte Corp AmEx and an old insurance card that says “Deloitte” but was surprised to be asked for proof. Normally I just check in on the app and avoid all this but the Cosmo doesn’t allow app check-in. If online checkin is an option for you, I recommend doing that and avoiding any nonsense upon arrival.

Just for an update, they didn’t ask me for anything when I checked in. 😂😂😂
Whatttt? Even EY advertises our codes to use for personal travel.
OP - which property? I'd like to ask my Marriott friends about this. Definitely sounds like a shady franchisee.
It’s OU Texas at the fairgrounds this Saturday. That hotel is in the epicenter of weekend activities so I’m sure that’s why they brought it up.

How would they know if it’s a private thing
I would ask to see the hotel policy and when they can’t produce it because it doesn’t exist just ignore them. I’ve run into the same situation before.

Store visit is good, so is a weekend system release.
How do they know you are not there for business?

Hahaha, yeah, they’re definitely trying to get me to cancel. Oh well!
