The fact that the recruiter is in-house seems to eliminate/mitigate ulterior motives for bringing you in. If you're interested in the opportunity, why not go for it? I would. Worst case is you don't get the job.

like

Yes. You probably know better than the recruiter does what goes into a particular legal role. But does it matter? If you want the job and she wants to push you to her company, why not go through the interview process and try? Is the GC below the CLO? I would have thought they mean the same thing...

First sentence was in response to Counsel 1's question re. mediocre white men (thus implying I am one). Second sentence was to encourage you to go for the position. Seize the opportunity, in other words.

Recruiters sell you as commodity and get a commission. Follow the money for motivation for behavior.

Sorry should have mentioned she's in house she works directly for the company think HR type situation. I don't think she will get a commission.

In house hr is a different beast from out house recruiters, but still take care. Enter the realm of politics and regulations and such!

I am interviewing for an in house job. Large startup in Europe (had Series C and raised 150M) and is starting a US presence. They want to pay base and bonus but bonus is all RSUs/options. It’s significant (about 75% of all in comp). Are these entirely worthless if the company never goes public?

Looking at an offer from a Series E startup and trying to figure out if this is worth it. I’m at 2 years post-MBA at a Big 4 (current TC right around 200k). New TC would be right around 200k, but would be like a 25% reduction in base - I like the role and the team but I dunno if that kind of base reduction is common for consulting exits? I see a lot of TC improvements, but wondering if those folks see a base jump too? Thanks!

The trusts and estates bowl is not very active, so thought I’d post here. We are in the middle of updating our will/trust. We don’t have any close family that could take care of our kids if we died. Our closest friend lives in Brazil. We would love to have her take care of the kids - but don’t know if there is any way around immigration laws to have that happen if she were willing to move to US. My Google searches haven’t turned up an answer.

I fucking hate the expectation that "men must provide" or "women must act a certain way". That's damaging to a lot of relationships. I love division of labor and working with each other's strengths and weaknesses without so much emphasis on gender roles. I'm a big supporter of utilitarian relationship that strives for the good of the partnership and each party.
