Just keep on going. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes. Keep knocking on those doors and one will open. Keep your chin up. You’ll get there!!!
Florida has plenty of openings 👋🏼
That’s right!
Florida was my back-up plan just in case I couldn’t find a position in my area of Ohio.
The reasoning: Years ago, my brother-in-law decided to stop looking for a teaching position in Ohio (he applied to 50+ districts), and move to the Orlando area. He was employed in no time. Now, he’s moving up and is working in administration.
Just after I graduated from university, my husband and I went down to Orlando for a visit. We toured my BIL’s school, and his principal (who just happened to be in my BIL’s wing at the time) offered me a teaching position on the spot! However, had to decline because I had already accepted a position in Ohio. So— I guess what I’m saying is— try Florida. 😊
I am a zero year teacher and can't even land an interview. It's tough especially when I have applied to nearly 40 openings. You will get the job that is meant for you.
There’s a lot of competition in Washington right now, unfortunately. The last job I interviewed for had 29 applicants and that was in a very small rural town with graduating class sizes of 30-40 students. I was confident about the interview, but someone with experience in that grade got the position. I’m a first year teacher 🤷🏻♀️
Subbing is a great way to get noticed in a district and to get a feel for what they’re looking for in the meantime. Best of luck to you.
Also, always consider "side door entries" such as alternative education through a district. I entered that way and a few years later transferred. If your state offers, also consider getting a supplementary credential.
Texas has plenty of openings-Houston needs teachers!
