Billing question - Do you have clients pay an outstanding balance within 30 days of sending out your account or earlier? I’ve heard some firms require clients to pay as soon as the account is rendered (ie. within 5 business days) but not sure if clients actually do that in reality and you end up chasing them? I’m a first year working at a firm in Miami. My annual income is 75K. How much of a raise should I ask for? I work in a mid size firm.

In CA, if an employee has to call his employer the night before to see if they are scheduled to work the following day, do they need to be compensated anything if they are NOT called in? For instance, let’s say this person kept the following day open and did not make any plans only to find out at 9pm the previous day that he is not needed. If he was called in, he would not have the option to turn it down.

6th year. Working for a boutique and was approached by a BigLaw partner to lateral. Current place is a realistic path to partnership but not sure if I want that. Move to BigLaw firm would be step up in deal exposure and really solid brand name (and maybe more exit opportunities). Thoughts on timing given am in year 6?
