[query] Is it a good idea to say a firm No due to medical reasons to a new night shift project I'm hired in?Accenture
I recently got a night shift project (2 days ago) that requires me to work from 10:30pm till 7:30am
I'm not comfortable with these timings and I'm thinking to ask my manager to put me on Bench (Due to medical reasons that involve mental health)
Is it a nice idea to say a firm No to a new project I'm hardlocked into, due to night shifts?
any thoughts on draftline?

Oh really? I LOVE them. I love having no privacy, constant distractions and hearing every stupid word uttered by my coworkers. LOVE IT!
☝️ Still trying to sell it, VP?
🙄🤦♂️😂
I million fiery furies for open offices. Also science backs up their wild inefficiency. Another confession? I hate Slack. It’s like the open office of the internet.
I started working from home and generally finish’s a full day’s work in 4-6 hours from home. And I have a small baby and no nanny. Its bliss being productive
Is that you Capt. Obvious??? 🙄
@OP — they know it isn’t a good idea and the research proves it. They don’t do it because it’s “collaborative.” That’s the PR spin. They do it b/c it’s the cheapest short term solution to making higher profits. Only when capitalism starts rewarding “the long game” will it change... which is never.
sc1 - I second your hatred of slack. It’s almost as distracting as an open office. So you put your noise canceling headphones on to avoid the noise, try not to look up when someone does something weird, try not to get startled when your boss hovers over you, only to be distracted by a group slack convo about scheduling that has nothing to do with you.
It's funny that executives and partners never have to"benefit" from open seating 😂
My first agency job had cubicles. And while at jwt. It was nice - I could put inspiration shit on my wall or relevant to what I was working on, didn’t wear headphones and can’t think of a time when my concentration was regularly broken.
Hate them too. I understand the usefulness of collaborative spaces but at some point we need our own semi-private space
Someone should introduce said captain to execs that think this is a good idea
There are a couple things it solves for.. less junk around the office, less lag time in getting new team members seated near their accounts/client group
👆🏻🧐🤪 not saying I support them. Just saying those are two pains in the ass that I no longer suffer from.
☝️ Some had cubicles. Others had offices. I had both; with an office as a mid level. It was heaven. Couch. Mini-fridge. TV. Especially since you pull 12 - 15hr or more shifts in this shitty business. Those days are long gone though. Now it’s back to this:

SSA, I’m getting kicked to open seating just like everyone else!
It’s all about money. Shove as many people as possible into an open space. We were asked by the CFO “do you want privacy or a raise?"
As someone who has only worked in open office plans, what did it used to be like? Are we talking cubicles?
