I hate our old 2014 Rav-4 in perfect condition with only 42K miles that is completely paid off. its our second car, rarely drive. what are some excuses you tell yourself to justify unnecessary spending on a car 😊

The economy is not looking great, taking money out to buy or lease a new car is not a good idea right now

The best car you have is the one that costs you nothing

Keep it as a daily beater to get something fun for a while, or keep it as a kids car

100% agree with Google1. Personally I am waiting till next spring/summer just to be on the safe side

There’s a lot you can do to make it more appealing as a daily. What specifically about the car bothers you? If it’s the vanilla looks, I would get some TRD “like” upgrades - skid plates, better suspension, snorkel exhaust etc. You could explore wraps in different colors or even take it to one of those over the top off roading mod shops and see what they can do both looks and performance wise. This might just kill the resale value, unless you stick with OEM / high quality parts and workmanship. You have a phenomenal car here. Keep it and make it yours.

What’s lol about that? The 4th gen rav4 is great. The Lexus NX 2014 onwards was on the same MC platform. I would keep it but definitely consider TRD additions to the vehicle. And there’s an official snorkel kit for the Tacoma/4Runner that will work very well with the Rav4.

I bought my daily for $500 knowing I'd have to work on it. I see it as a learning experience and a hobby I enjoy. Buying parts and wrenching on it when it needs it is a way of enjoying my hobby and keeping my car on the road. 334k miles and it's still chugging along. No car payment, cheap insurance, fantastic fuel economy (35+mpg avg, normally around 37/38), and parts are halfway cheap. 2001 Honda Civic. Granted I have a truck too for when I've got work for my second job, and we have a nicer 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L that we use for toting the kiddo around in and going on decent trips in.

I have been there. I ask myself what I don’t like about it and what I could do about. I’ll spend money on a stereo system or blacked out film to change the look, a roof system or lower/ lift it depending on your tastes. Check out Pintrist for ideas. A lot less than spending 26% more on a car and then paying more in financing.

100% just bitching. i grew up poor and want a 911, can afford but its just never a good financial decision. i guess i need fck u money first

OP - are you looking for an excuse to trade it in?

You should sell it private party. You might get closer to original MSRP than you could imagine. Probably $5k more now than in six months.

Keep that cash (and rent the few weeks you need a second car) and then order something you really like now for June delivery. Prices will be down by then - so if they won’t deal - you can get it elsewhere.

Car prices are going down and rates are going up. Nows one of the best times in the last 2 years to negotiate a deal on a new car, without waiting for interest rates to get even higher

I also hate the rav4

Failure is like digging; you must keep digging to find the treasure.

Our perspective has tremendous power. Use it to dig. Here's how:

- Accept the present situation first before deciding what to do. You can’t change the failure, but you can find your next steps from it.
- You can’t change others, but you have absolute power over yourself. That’s more than enough.
- Be intentional about the next attempt.
- See what others did and how you can apply it to your endeavor.

I had an initial call with a recruiter and got turned down about 6-7 months ago. I was having a really bad day (just found out a relative had passed, more than normal work stress, ect) and just really had a tough time gathering my thoughts. I honestly should have rescheduled the call but I just didn’t really want to have to push it out and coordinate schedules again. Any chance I can get a second look? The career path aligns with my interests and my background is a great fit.

Currently have 2 small sedans and one will crap out soon. In future want at least 1 suv (maybe 2) instead. Have a 1 and 3 year old so thinking a smaller suv now and buying a new telluride 3 years from now when the carpools start and a car seat is gone. We are very frugal so thinking buying either a certified preowned rav4/crv or leasing a Kia Sportage for $179/mo. What would you do in our position?
