So quit?
I also wonder - I mean seriously do people not have families/lives?
What’s so bad about the travel? The flight schedules or days away from home? If you go industry you’re probably sitting in bumper to bumper traffic every day
I can understand flying if you have to do coast-to-coast every week, but is better than traffic. My advice, see if you can find a local project or take a week to WFH every two months or so. That will allow you to recharge a bit.
It's hard OP. I'm with you there. Just stay strong and remind yourself why you are here and what you are gaining. Otherwise make the decision to leave and figure out what you need to do to feel like you've made the right transition out. Good luck OP!
Is it the hours or the travel? I don’t think you can get away from the hours in any high profile job these days. For travel, sure you can go corporate. But is that really what you want?
Go “industry,” not “corporate.”
Left for industry. Home with my family and only 15 minute commute! 🥳 loving it!
Same time zone or one over isn't bad at all. It's all the fun with very little hassle actually. Cross country, especially heading east, is the absolute worst.
Lol at all the people saying traffic is worse than flying... I did three years of layovers both ways, my commute was anywhere from 14-20 hours of travel a week, even an hour of bumper to bumper both ways, five days a week, would still be less hours)
Wasn’t so much the city, it was the client locations in the middle of nowhere 🤷♂️
Easy solution
Talk to your career counselor. You might be surprised about the support you receive. If you ask, people might work with you to find balance.
