Honestly after your first year out of college looking for jobs, no one should give a shit about college or GPA or any of that nonsense.
ACD 1 The lack of a degree will come out in the background check. You could clear up the "misunderstanding" in the interview just to get in the door but education is not hard to check. Alternatively, you could hope you have Hire Right checking your references (which they don't always do before onboarding) and not give them consent after you are hired.
It’s happening to many people who have degrees as well.
The applicant tracking systems are just brutal. I don't think it's your lack of degree, honestly. Unless you're going for very specific jobs nobody gives a shit after a few years. Have you tried putting your resume and a target Jon description into an ATS simulator like jobscan? Not perfect but may give you some pointers: https://www.jobscan.co/
I didn't even know this kind of thing existed! Thanks, I'll give it a try.
DM me.
So I tried, and it says I need 11 hearts to do. but I have over 500 so I don't know what the deal is. Any way you can initiate?
No college at all, or just no ad school? If no school, congrats on a great career so far without it. And your right is should not matter, but bots will be bots... you may need help from someone on the inside of the agency (referral) you are targeting to get noticed. Hope you find something soon!
No college at all. Started writing code and doing SEO, things that were not so well understood at the time so I skated my way into jobs with a freelance portfolio vs training.
It’s not your lack of degree. At your level, no one cares where or if you went to school. This is the worst time of the year for hiring, but the best time to be applying since budgets start anew typically in January. I’d be happy to take a look at your resume if you want to shoot it to fishbowlrecruiter1@gmail
Oh! And make sure you update your LinkedIn settings to show that you’re available for new opportunities. If you do that, it shuffles you to the top tier in a LinkedIn search for recruiters. You can find that setting here:
Cont: I submit for roles, and hear nothing. Mostly auto-rejections, because I never went to school. Is my lack of degree really holding me back this much? It can't be anymore with all my experience, right? Or am I just being HRIS'd out of consideration.
I don’t list my school anywhere on my resume. I don’t have a problem! I only graduated college.. never went to ad/design school.
