I have 15 years experience in Change Management. Thinking about going out on my own. There seems to be a lot of work out there for smaller projects that the big firms aren't interested in. Any thoughts or advice for me?

Should I stay in my role a bit longer to gain experience or I am not able to find remote or hybrid matching my profile. Your advice and comments are much appreciated.

Is there a recommended path here? Long one, finished in the comments.

So I make around 35% below market for my titled role. My employer used “startup” as the reason when I was hired, but they’ve finally stopped using that excuse. I was fine with it, because I was promised a promotion within 12 months due to scope change. I’ve now been promoted twice, but in responsibility only. My boss said it’ll be another 18-24 months until my director promo is approved and goes into effect. More in comments

Do folks in tech reach higher levels of compensation than consultants 5 to 10 years post MBA? I still keep in touch with many of my classmates who made a beeline to work for FAANG firms post MBA, and their compensation absolutely dwarfs that of MBB and Big 4 by a fair amount and the gap only seems to widen with time. The wlb, by all accounts, seem to be much better too.

Would love to hear from anyone else who made a similar move or knows others who jumped to tech?

I have been working in US for the last 2 years and haven’t had my H1-B picked in my first 2 attempts at the lottery and I have 1 attempt remaining. With the second round of lottery happening this year now in August, would it count as my 3rd attempt or will I still have a chance to file next year since this second round is only to meet the required number of H1-B granted this year? My OPT expires in Feb 2022, so not quite sure about the process if I’m not picked.

Any insights are appreciated!

Hey everyone. I had a conversation with a friend of me about what is the better approach:
Click apply on LinkedIn without even reading the job description.
Or
Read the job descriptions and detailsod the work before applying before applying.
The first approach is not time consuming maybe you have to apply to 100 where 1 might be suitable.
The second approach requires you to read 100 job descriptions where you apply to 10 and 1 will be suitable.
What are your thoughts?
