I have 2 years of experience in German Taxation. I see there is no scope fot German tax except EY.
I want to change my German tax field to US taxation.
I known that if I go for US Tax I have to start from the scratch, however looking 5 years down the line I see some future in US tax compare to German Taxation and scope for US taxation in other big 4's
Any suggestions on this ?

OP: you will not need to start from scratch. There are many concepts that are the same so I would say you will start half way there.

I work on global provisions and I usually review provisions from other countries and see that there is a lot of similarities.

Curious about this and following. I would like to learn German tax. I have family in Berlin and the thought of moving there has always been appealing to me.

You should look into the RSM Expat program and internal mobility program! You could always do a short or long term secondment in another country provided we have an office in that country.

As opposed to starting from scratch, maybe move into a tax group that’s more transferable? I’ve seen transfer pricing people move to and from the US, the laws and each country vary but they’re all usually somewhat based on OECD guidelines.

Pretty much the same as me, wanting to do more US tax work compared to me level of U.K. tax work. Luckily I do a fair amount of GMO work so that’s a big selling point (apparently)

KPMG reached out to me earlier this week and I’m interviewing for a tax position tomorrow morning. JD working on CPA. Working for a regional firm right now making $79k. I like it, but the benefits aren’t great.

Would anyone working in tax at KPMG recommend making the switch? What do your hours look like? Are you satisfied with the benefits?

I just found out that my CPA failed to file my returns and submit payment on time even though they confirmed on the 18th that it was going to be filed that day. I do corporate taxes and have extremely limited experience in personal taxes. What should I be concerned about here other than the penalty and late fees for their negligence?
