I learned I’m not getting a promotion to a senior role. I’ve shown leadership skills for the year + 9 months here, have prior IT support experience, etc. This decision was made by the interim sup I’ve only had for 3 mths whom went with another candidate. How do you explain to you SO the role of billable hours? I feel like a broken record talking about how BIg law and in general the legal profession is very different, but my SO doesn’t seem to get the stress. Loves my paycheck for sure, but doesn’t get that to move up in our profession that you have to put the “time” in and that some of that isn’t just the 1900 requirement. It’s getting very frustrating.
