I have 37 nights and 132k points with spg. This only gets me 2-3 nights in a city like DC Paris NYC booking through their site for a nice hotel. Any better way I should use these points?

132k can be transferred to United miles at 3:1 ratio plus a 15k bonus per 60k transferred leaving you with 54k United miles, for example. That’s a free round trip to Hawaii. Or one way to New Zealand. Send them to British Airways and redeem for a whopping 7 one way flights on American under 1150 miles. Hell, transfer them to American, find an extra 8k points somewhere and you can fly Etihad’s APARTMENT from London to Abu Dhabi. It was the best flight of my life. You have options. :)

Well those are pretty top cities. Stay 10 nights (for work) and get 1 free sounds pretty reasonable.

Marriot points I assume?

like

Yes

I mean you could get 20 nights at a category 1 hotel. You can transfer to an airline too. Value is bit subjective. You could get better value booking a $1000 over water suite in the Maldives but do you want to go there? Is the cost to go there worth the savings from the points? I think Paris and NYC are good values due to the high prices in those cities.

Wait British airways points = AA points A1?

like

I fly AA and already have 45k points with them

like

OP - Then that’s 99k AA points if you transfer. Go HAM on their Partner Award Chart.

like

BA <> AA points but you can redeem AA flights with Avios points at the rate of 7500 Avios per AA Flight under 1150 miles. Have fun! 😎

@Accenture 1 where are you finding award nights so cheap? I tried to get Delta economy + from ORD to AMS and it was like 190k miles

Honestly I care more about the destination than the quality of the hotel. I use my Marriott points exclusively for Fairfields and Courtyards to maximize amount of nights I can squeeze outta them.

like

@Associate 1 - The entire week of March 11 it’s 37k ORD-AMS via Delta. And just wait for the upgrade to Comfort + with whatever status you’ve got. Easy

I didn't realize you could upgraded if you booked with points. Also, did you just scroll through every week until you found a cheap flight or did you search a different way?

It was the first week I searched. Late winter, pre-spring break Europe is way off season and likely cheap. Boom. Found it. You can get upgraded to Comfort + but not into a layflat for an international flight

@A1 - Hawaii is def more than 54k United Points round trip.

Need advice. We have a member on our team that doesn’t follow process, ignores asks, and undermines those above. They kinda go off and do their own thing, implement their own way of doing things. They are deeply embedded in the culture and are well liked by leadership. The dept head continues to praise them on calls, even when they ignore asks, push back, do not follow process. Do I say something? Do I let live? I’m new to the team and find this dynamic really uncomfortable.
