Managing Student Loans - a Q&A

I have 43 in debt (first gen college student) and have been teaching for 10 years. Feels a bit hopeless. Any recommendations on how to get this over with in the next five years?

Check out the Dave Ramsey program. I am following that and plan on paying off the student loan debt in 2 1/2 years

Thanks for your commitment to teaching, and sorry to hear that you’re starting to feel hopeless! Would you mind sharing what types of loans you have (are they Direct loans?) and what type of school you are teaching at?

It would also be helpful to know what type of repayment plan you are in currently.

Buy or rent? Analyst at a HF, 25, have 250k saved up in a high COL city. Put up a down payment or keep renting? Post-property taxes/hoa fees, monthly payments for buying = monthly rent. Condos start at 400k+ here

Just got conditional approval for GE but my stamped H1B has expired but I have an extension and valid 797. Is that good enough for the interview? Or do I need to wait till I get the extension stamp?

Second year analyst here. My interns feedback was that he likes it but probably isn’t coming back since he didn’t get to do any high level strategy consulting. What kind of work is he talking about?

Say you’re 1 year into first job out of undergrad. You’re looking to move to a firm that’s both better-regarded and a better personal fit. Make the move ASAP or stick around a little longer?

In regards to SS, when a client has a family history of premature deaths, and the client isn’t in tip top shape themselves, do you advise taking the lesser payment sooner?
