You would need to climb the ladder by working as a lead, senior, and then manager .
Do you have any management training experience? Are you a natural-born leader? Why a manager role? It is not as fun as it may seem! I work for a small IT Search firm and manage a team of recruiters while also doing "hands-on" recruiting and some new business development. If you are an internal (corporate recruiter) is there a chance to move up in your current company? I am happy to discuss this further offline if you like.
I think it is always easiest to make that move internally. Could there be internal opportunities for you? You may already be doing this but I'd be trying my best to build those skills and act in that role as much as possible today i.e. mentor/coach for other team members, setting the standard of performance, sharing learnings/helping others. Letting your manager know your desire to move into a manager role in the future, networking within the company e.g. if it is a big company, having more people who know you and can advocate for your move into a manager position or let you know as opportunities come up.
