From a school/ daycare from a learning POV
You mean to switch a 4 year old mid-year to a more “challenging” preschool? To be honest, that sounds incredibly silly to me.
What about finding an activity one evening a week (or on weekend) that he can look forward to? Or maybe you could ask the teachers for ideas on how to get him more engaged?
Talk to his teachers and let them know. Most likely, they will be able to help. Also, they may know where that comment is coming from.
Yes thanks for the responses. Good suggestions! He doesn’t want to go to school for that reason but you’re right I should talk to the teacher. I will do that this week.
Good luck! My son was the oldest in his class for a while and they noticed he was bored, so would do extra activities with him when the others were asleep.
Definitely talk to his teachers, especially if he’s otherwise happy at that school. When my daughter was that age, her teachers let her sit in with the kindergarten class for some activities.
My son is that age and being bored or something being boring is one of his favorite go-to complaints when he’s trying to stall. (E.g., brushing my teeth is soooo boring). He’s said it about school too, but I know he has fun there when I dig a little deeper into his day. I would talk to his teachers, but wouldn’t move him at this point
If he is going to K next year, probably not worth to make a move. Agree with the others - talk to the teacher and ask them to challenge him a little more. But at 4, it is really more about the social aspect and having fun than anything else. Kids at that age don’t even really know what boring means...
