I have a call on Monday for an in house job where I’d be drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts in areas that I’m not familiar with. I applied to the job because it’s in an industry I’d like to break into and at a company I adore. To note, I’m currently a first year lit associate. What questions should I be prepared for regarding transferability of my skills? Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Do you have contract drafting experience? Sign up for a free trial of law insider and follow Laura Frederick on linked in to learn about contract drafting.

If it is tech, the Tech Contracts Handbook is great. If general drafting, Tina Stark's "Contract Drafting" is the bible.

As to industry, you can be taught your industry's contract pain points.

Don't freak out--they know you're junior and you're a litigator and they gave you the interview. Act humble and enthusiastic. You got this. They don't expect you to be an expert. Just loosely familiar and willing to learn.

Thank you for the insight! At one of my summer internships I drafted a contract but that was a few summers ago. I will look into law insider and Laura Frederick. Thanks again!

Hi everybody! 😊
I've been working as a Junior Analog Design Engineer for a year and half.
I received a proposal for a Senior Analog Designer role from Bosch in the same city where I am currently working.
Should I wait and build up a few more years of experience before accepting a Senior role or should I jump in and work to fill the gap?
Next year, there will be an important deadline for the project I'm working on and my resignation could be critical for the team, how would you deal with it?

Bit of background: I recently turned 25, have been an auditor now for 4 years (same firm from intern to staff to senior), and have given my firm and my clients 110% of me at all times.
Lately, I’ve been wanting to quit altogether (burning out) and try out a career that has always been more of a “dream”. I can’t be the only one feeling this way so I’m reaching out to my people - is this just a weird quarter-life crisis or is it actually valid & reasonable?
