I feel bad for your cat. The consulting profession is not really made for having pets. I also feel bad for you. I’d say a cat sitter is probably the best solution. Good luck in whatever you choose to do!

like

I have an automatic feeder and waterer for my cat when I’m traveling. I also decided to get a second cat so they could keep each other company while I was gone. The best thing I have though is a Petzi which is a device with a camera that you can set on the floor. It has an app associated with it so you can check in anytime, and it also has a treat dispenser. It’s not necessarily cheap, but I’m sure there are other products like it on the market.

Cats are independent, so they’ll be fine by themselves for a few days a week, but they’ll be happy to see you when you get home!

like

A1 disagree. My cats are very sensitive and miss me greatly if I travel. I have a pet sitter if I'm gone for more than 24 hours. OP I'd suggest getting a sitter or asking a friend to drop by.

like

I didn’t say my cats didn’t miss me or aren’t sensitive. Of course they miss me, but I give them lots of love when I’m home, and they know the routine.

like

I have asked a few different friends to cat sit and paid by picking up the next bar tab or something like that.

An Arlo! Also there are services that will come by and play with your cat. But they’re independent and self sufficient

See if there's someone in your building or nearby that would stop by once a day. Get a camera though to make sure they come by and stuff :)

It’s hard for me with my cat, I got him another cat to help, but I usually just have someone watch them while I’m gone so they aren’t alone. My cats also have an eating problem and tend to over eat though..... so it’s hard to do free feeding with them.

I have two cats from the same litter, and have a pet sitter come in every day I’m gone for thirty minutes each visit. She feeds them, plays with them, cleans the litter (main reason everyday), brings in my mail and takes my trash bins in and back in trash day. $20 per day. Cats like her.

My American citizen 8 month old is on tourist visa in India; current stay runs out on June 7. Flying outside the country is a risk we don’t want to take w/COVID. Don’t want to overstay the visa either. So we applied online on eFRRO to convert his visa to X-1 so we can apply for his OCI. They didn’t ask for payment and message popped up saying watch your text/email for next steps. Anything else I can do?

One year ago this weekend my mother was dying of Covid 2000 miles away from me. I need to crawl into a cave this weekend until this holiday passes.

I’m really happy being gf&bf with my significant other - I’m 41 and I don’t want kids and I am not desperately seeking marriage. I’m really happy with just this & my job. I think it weirds his immigrant family out a lot. His mother apparently was very cold/rude to his ex-gf (I found this out bc I asked) and his sister is very cold and has a very judgmental attitude about women that don’t wanna be a wife & have kids (just like her.) I wanna avoid holidays at their place - any advice?

Can someone walk me through the Do's and Don't's of AA miles? I think they're a joke.

I have 65k miles and I could only pay for a one-way ticket from PHX-JFK. I had to book 1 leg with miles and the 1 with cash, but booking the other leg in cash was about 80% of the round trip in cash.

My mom has 12k miles that expire soon, transferring them would cost me $450. I can pay for a round trip with that cash but I can only pay for a trip to my kitchen with those 12k miles.

What am I doing wrong? 😂

Due in 2 weeks with baby number two, husband just tested positive for Covid 😩 He’s been around me and our 2 year old the past 2 days, getting PCRs for me and my LO tomorrow. Freaking out is an understatement. We had our first in May 2020 and never thought we’d still be going through this 2 years later. Anyone know anyone whose delivered or had a c section with Covid? Looking for some encouragement everything will work out okay. This is crazily the first time we’ve had it!

Many of you have young kids... are there any moms of teens here?

I am at a point where my teen's newfound "independence" is starting to impact my focus and time at work - his running off to hang with friends without permission, etc is becoming a distraction during the workday, and the impact has definitely been noticed by my superiors at work.

The issues with the kid are being handled appropriately - this is more about how to overcome perception at work
