My FIL (63) owns a small business and wants to retire. He has an option to rent the building for 2 years then sell it for $4m or another option just to rent it indefinitely but at a lower rate. Rental income would be approx 18.5k / month. What do we need to consider for tax implications etc? Are there advisors that specialise in this kind of thing? Thanks!

Our district is moving all employees to district pay starting next school year. There were multiple employees that were employed/paid through our local temp agency. While it’s great that they are now offering this, the downfall is that those employees that have been working at the school for 5 plus years will be getting the same pay as those that are new hires. I feel that this is unfair to those that have been there longer and have pre experience vs those just starting out.

I have my first student teacher this year. I got an idea at a conference to have her journal everyday. I found this article and wondered what people here thought about it. It deals with teacher licensing tests. Among other things, it presents the case for a positive correlation between performance on a licensing test and performance in the classroom. It also argues there is an outsized number of teachers (over 50%) that don’t pass the licensing test on the first try. Any newer teachers out there who can weigh in on their teacher prep program and the licensing test experience? https://www.nctq.org/publications/Driven-by-Data:-Using-Licensure-Tests-to-Build-a-Strong,-Diverse-Teacher-Workforce/
