I have a consulting side gig (I’m no longer in public accounting). I am paid the gross amount (nothing withheld). Should I just park 40% or so of the consulting income in a HYSA for taxes until taxes are owed next year, or does anyone have other suggestions? Part of me wants to put all of it into the stock market, but that could be risky.

You probably need to make quarterly estimates so putting it in the market for such a short period probably does not make much sense

No you may be fine. Just check the safe harbor rules. I believe that when you hit a certain income you need to be 110 percent of last year

Tax question - I make about $200k and get half of my income from a W-2 and another half from being an independent contractor. Because, I’m subject to pay both FICA and SECA taxes. Do my social security taxes get capped on amounts paid above the ~$140k threshold across both my W-2 and 1099 incomes or am I out of luck and have to pay more than that since only about 100k of my income is FICA and the other 100K is SECA (which is subject to ~12% overall including the ER portion)?

Has anyone ever done a postnuptial agreement? At the time of marriage, my spouse and I were relatively equal in terms of finances. This would make me feel much more comfortable. Any guidance?
