Exercise. Go outside. It will allow you to watch a screen for personal reasons on the weekend
Having separate workspaces and/or different rooms for your work and interests is a great way to start that separation by creating it physically! More or less feasible depending on your living situation and space
Yea I do have a spare room that opened up recently I can use!
I use different computers and use my laptop in a comfy space for hobbies instead of working. Sometimes I make myself start the side project on my phone or in my notebook before busting out the laptop so I can be excited about it and avoid the “I should be working” feeling.
I use different computers too but use the same keyboard and mouse for both.
Just curious, what’s your career background before your current role
Was an IT consultant prior. Obtained some certs, and jumped into InfoSec
Get a standing desk. It helps with sitting all day. Change up the decor a bit? If you have spare room/space, you can set up that area to be your hobby space. I have two workspaces set up. My hubby thought he will WFH, but ended up not doing it and I used them. However, I have a limit on my work time and I make it clear to my coworkers. At 5pm, I am closing my laptop, unless emergencies. I am not answering phones or messages. I am off work. It is me time.
To get away from the computer: Make a exercise routine. For example, I like to walk/jog between my tasks, so there is my break before going back. I also do painting and baking.
Haha I do want a standing desk, but rather get a nice one which are typically close to $1k than a cheap $300 one. I got a spare room recently that I could set up and move my work things into. I will prob do that this weekend
I try to take walks, listen to podcasts and get some sun, maybe even exercise or meditate. Sounds like your perspective is changing, not your situation. The best way to fix that is to leave that perspective completely for a bit and get into a new mindset
