I have a dilemma. I lead a recruiting team in a consulting group and we are having trouble meeting our numbers. We are under pressure to deliver and we have been working together to make our numbers grow. Today I find out that one of the recruiters went to HR to say I have been pressuring them too much. I have a lead on my team who I discussed this with who doesn’t think there has been pressure at all. Suggestions ? I don’t know who the person is.

Bring it up and ask for feedback. Let your teams know that you're not upset about this - in fact, to the contrary, you'd like to use it as a learning experience so you can correct and improve how you lead going forward. Hopefully the person who squealed will come forward and you can find out exactly what it is that has them feeling so pressured. In the absence of that, you'll need to do some deep introspection to see if you can figure it out. Good luck!

The best thing to do is to approach the situation honestly and openly. You should talk to your team and find out if anyone has been feeling pressured. Better if you do it like searching for feedback and ideas to tackle the problem, so they don't feel like you're witch hunting. If no one says to be feeling pressure, let them know your door is open to conversate privately if they feel that way anytime

like

Meet with your team and let them share their thoughts and feedbacks on the situation. And as the team lead, listen. After everyone's done then you can all brainstorm and formulate a more effective approach to finishing your tasks successfully as a team.

like

Sounds like a rock and hard place situation. The person you talked to might not be reliable since they might not want to upset your or make you mad. I think you just explain to HR what’s going on and ask their advice for how to take the temperature down in the team. Good luck!

I think that's a bit ridiculous. You are a manager and you have a goal to meet. Pressure is sometimes needed to get things done. As long as you have been professional about it, this employee needs to learn that sometimes this field is stressful. We can't just complain when things get difficult.

like

Ok so you’ve got to get your team re-engaged and excited about what they do. I agree have an open hour let them vent. Find out what issues they’re having specifically with recruiting. Also, try adding in music or an ice breaker. It relaxes them a bit before you start telling them what they’re doing wrong. I start all of my meetings this way. Also if you get positive feed back about them highlight it front of the team. Everyone loves to hear how awesome they are. In the mean time look at the data are there certain occupations/ or areas that seem to be taking a hit versus your numbers just being low. I found some issues were management based or burn out

like

It might be helpful to listen to that constructive criticism. Maybe not just that person feels like that, but many on your team. Usually, no one will speak up because they will be afraid of retaliation. No need to know who that person is but address the concern.

like

This is terrible. I agree with HRC1. You should have a meeting with your team. Talk to them about what you just discovered. If no one wants to admit, le them sign something that states otherwise. The one who doesn't sign is the person who went to the HR. Otherwise, he will be contradicting himself.

like

Did the HR ask you about this? I think it's better if you bring it up and settle things. It's important to know the opinion and suggestion of the people in your team.

I recently had an in-house interview for a large company where the screening interviewer communicated the salary range and told me that I had to let him know on the spot if the range was not high enough. The amount was lower than I initially expected based on my research into the role and company so I was a little surprised. What is the best response to this question bearing in mind that I would like to make it to the next round while negotiating a higher salary?

There’s a woman I know who’s the most selfless, caring & just the most amazing person in the 🌎. She raised her children alone, takes care of her grandchild, her disabled sister, helps w/ my kiddos, as well as a million things for me & others.
